In 1964, at Booker T. Washington High School, Mr. Langston Knowles founded the original GENTS Organization. This organization was based upon the principles of good citizenship, high moral standards, and high academic achievement. The GENTS is open to young men who exemplify the will to improve themselves as well as their community. Through various service projects, as well as social activities, they have established a high standing in the Houston area. Since 1964 there have been several GENT chapters formed at various schools: Alief Taylor, Booker T. Washington, Sterling, Yates, Galena Park, North Shore and Channelview. The Channelview Chapter of Gents was charted in the fall of 2014. The Charter Members completed the Induction Process in December of 2014.
