Degrees and Certifications:
Hello Cougars and Cougar families! My name is Kathy Tansey and this is my second year at Cobb Elementary. I fell in love with Cobb the first day I walked into the school for an interview. I already feel connected to the students, staff, building, and the whole concept of Cobb Elementary.
I am a special education inclusion teacher here at Cobb and really enjoy working with students who have special needs. This is my 25th year of teaching. All but 2 of these years I have worked with children who have special needs. I became interested in special education after my daughter was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. The education I received helped me to better understand and help her to reach her highest potential. I apply my knowledge and experience to help my students reach their highest potential.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from UHCL, specializing in Special Education. I have a Masters degree in Education from National University, also specializing in Special Education.
I am married to a wonderful man, Kevin, and together we have 5 children and 5 grandchildren (and one on the way). A few of the hobbies we enjoy doing are: camping, hunting, entertaining, watching the Astros, and spending time at our lake house.
My goal for the school year is to make personal connections with the students I work with and their parents. Together, we can and will help them make measurable progress.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have about your child who is receiving special education services.
