Miss Mariana Santibañez Bravo

I am Mariana Santibanez Bravo, I am first generation student. I graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor degree in Electrical Power Engineering. I am here to help students like me who are first generation, Latinos, girls and undocumented students to aim for higher education. Attend to college and most importantly be well prepare for it. I would like to make a chance in education since from my personal experience I don’t feel I was well prepare for college. I was not well prepare in the STEM side and I would like to make a change in my community by understanding our background and preparing us more. I would like to encourage students to aim for a degree in STEM since there are not many Latinos and girls with a degree in STEM.

College for my family and me it looked little bit of blurry since in my household no one had a degree. For my family and me education has always being our first priority and it did not matter any obstacle our dreams would come true. I would like to encourage students and hopefully be an example that everything is possible with will and having someone to help you and guide you. Some of my experience with teaching has been tutoring after school programs as volunteer teaching math and I would like to continue to teach and make an impact in our community. I have also gone back to my high school and talk about the importance of education, finishing high school, going to college, and helping them in the process to apply for financial aid. I have also volunteer to help students apply for DACA to obtain a work permit.
