Welcome to Alice Johnson Junior High

2016-2017 School Year
Technology Applications Teacher.

Mrs. Flores graduated from the Art Institute of Houston in 2010.
Last year was my first year teaching at Alice Johnson Junior High and I am very excited to be here.

My goal for this class is to cultivate the passion to succeed. Engage students in complex problem solving with ability to think problems through logically, analytically, and critically. Students will also develop collaboration skills by dividing labor, sharing ideas, and building on one another's work. This class is a great way for students to get excited about science, technology, engineering, and math.

    Courses

    • Introduction to Robotics

In this course we will be utilizing Lego Mindstorm EV3 kits. The purpose of this course will be to introduce the students to engineering, computer science, and basic programming. They will learn problem solving strategies by breaking down complex problems into simpler ones. Students will work in teams to build and program. Hopefully the most influential part of this class will be to see failure as an opportunity to learn, rather than a judgment on a student ability.

    • Advanced Robotics Introduction to Robotics

In this course we will be utilizing Vex IQ kits. The purpose of this course will be to advance the students knowledge of engineering, computer science, and basic programming. They will work in teams to design solutions to a problem through designing the robot, programing, and documenting their process.

    • Modular Synergistics

In this course students will have a hands on learning experience in tweleve different STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) modules. These modules are multimedia-delivered instruction that includes collaborative learning, hands-on experience, performance assessments. The students have the opportunity to create projects, opperate different software, and conduct experiments.
