Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Justin Thomas
I graduated from the University of Texas Austin with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. I started in education at the preschool level as an assistant and then a lead teacher.
Following graduation, I worked in Round Rock ISD as an assistant teacher in a behavior unit. The next year I moved to the Houston area and started working in private education. I was an administrator for one school year but missed the classroom so I started teaching again and taught first, second, and third grade over the next several years. I also taught instructional English for one semester at Alvin community college during this time. After 4 years in private education, I returned to the public sector and took a job as the resource/inclusion teacher at Teague Elementary in Pasadena ISD. I worked with grades kindergarten through fourth providing support in reading, writing, and math for 5 years.
I have lots of diversified experience in the classroom with a wide variety of ages and student dynamics. That having been said, every school year brings with it a new wealth of knowledge and exposure to student needs and concerns that require new knowledge and skills. A good teacher is a good student and at the end of the day I learn as much from my students as they learn from me. I am very excited to join the Channelview ISD team and look forward to a very enriching and productive school year.
My door is always open to students, parents, and colleagues so please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any comments, questions, or concerns.
