Mrs. Nykia Malveaux

I am a graduate of Evan E. Worthing High School in Houston, Texas.  I attended The University of Houston-Downtown for my undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. For three years I taught in the BSC Class for Houston ISD and then worked as a Pre-K teacher until I had my firstborn.  I stayed at home as a stay at home mom and jumped back into teaching a year later, teaching a 4th Grade ESL, Self-Contained class for 6 years.  When Houston ISD adopted the district, I followed and became a 3rd Grade ELAR Teacher for three years.  When I welcomed my last child in October, I stayed at home again! I resigned from Houston ISD in 2015 and became a Channelview ISD substitute and Reading Lab Aide.  I have certifications as an ESL, Special Ed (All Levels), and Generalist EC-4 Teacher.  I also spend time teaching ESL/GED classes for Houston Community and San Jacinto Colleges. I am also the youth director at my church and have been serving there for a little over 10 years.  I am excited to meet you and can’t wait to read together!
