Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Amy Magby

Welcome to English I / ESL!

My name is Ms. Magby.  Although I grew up in Arkansas, I have been happy to be in Texas for the past twelve years!

I started my teaching career at L.W. Kolarik Ninth Grade Center in Channelview in January of 2009.  I taught in Baytown, Texas for two years, but returned to Channelview in the fall of 2015.  After teaching English I for seven years, I started teaching ESL along with English I just last year here at Endeavor.  I have really enjoyed this change.  I teach English, Speech, and ESL.

I earned a B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies from Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, in 2001, and went on to attend Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, CA, until 2002.  I earned my teaching credentials through Region IV in Houston, Texas, in 2008.  I earned my M.Ed. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages in March of 2016.  I was recently accepted as a doctoral candidate at Morehead State University, and will earn my Ed.D. in Educational Technology beginning in June, 2017.

I have four children: Eliza is seventeen and entering her senior year in high school.  She is very active in band, as is my twelve-year-old, Molly, who is entering seventh grade this year.  Aaron, age ten, and Charlie, age eight, enjoy all kinds of sports all throughout the year.  Football is most current, but they will be active every season with some kind of sport!  We are very busy and enjoy time outdoors.  We also have two cats named Clark and Daphne.

I am really happy about this school year!  My classroom is a fun, colorful, and active place!  I look forward to knowing my students and their families and discovering out how I can help each student to be successful.
