I believe that educating and serving as a positive influence in children's lives is more than a profession - it is a calling.

Every child is different and the main role of all educators, especially in the elementary setting is to discover how students learn best.  It takes patience and being able to work through different situations on their educational journey.  The people that have those qualities are the ones that have the 'gift' of reaching the hearts and minds of children.

My teaching career in Channelview ISD began at Hamblen Elementary as a fifth and sixth grade math teacher.  My passion for positively impacting students was evident and in 2012 I was named the district's Elementary Teacher of the Year.  I then moved into the administrative ranks as an assistant principal at Harvey Brown Elementary.  Most recently I served as an assistant principal at Aguirre Junior High.

Channelview has been great to me.  It is an ideal place to work and as far as training and development, there are always numerous opportunities available to expand your knowledge and learn new and innovative ways to be effective in the classroom.

My first experience working with students was as a youth pastor after graduating with honors with a bachelor's degree in Theology/Pastoral Studies for Oral Roberts University.  I really enjoyed my time working with the different ages of youth.  It taught me a lot as far as patience and truly being able to lend a helping hand.

I left the youth ministry to work in the corporate sector for Target Corporation in Tulsa, Oklahoma and eventually worked my way into an executive management position.  I excelled, but the corporate world just was not my passion.  At that moment I knew it was time to go back to something I enjoyed.

In 2005, I moved to Texas and went to work as the Director of Operations at a charter school based at Abundant Life Church in La Marque.  I saw where I could make a difference.  I knew then that working with young people was my calling. Since that time I have earned a master's degree in School Administration and Educational Leadership from Lamar University in Beaumont.

I've learned from life's experiences and the journey has been a great one.  I embrace the opportunity as Cobb Elementary's principal and I can promise you that we all will continue to do what's best for kids.
