• Welcome to English 2 and English 4. Everyday you need to be prepared to READ, WRITE, and REFLECT. We will do most of our assignments in google classroom, so knowing your login information is really important. Checking my website and google classroom everyday, especially when you're absent, is a necessary habit to form.

English 2 is a full year course with a STAAR exam in the Spring, so we will be working on building those skills so that sucess can occur. This class is not accelerated nor self-paced, so be prepared for DIRECT TEACHING all year long.

English 4 is an accelerated class, but it is not self-paced. Each semester will be finished in 6 weeks and consists of reading 1 book on your own but, with a specific focus. There will be 4-6 notebook checks, tests, as well as successful completion of Texas College Bridge.

Mrs. Jennifer Thurik

Welcome to my class!  I'm embarking on my 24th year teaching English.  I received my Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Houston and my Master's Degree in Literature from UHCL.  I am certified to teach ELA 4th-12th grade with an ESL certification for grades 3-12.

I have been married to Danny for 22 years and we have 2 children; J.D. is 18 and just graduated high school and Clarisa is 13 and going into eight grade.
I have previously taught at Channelview High School, La Porte High School, San Jacinto Junior College, and now I couldn't be happier to be here at Endeavor High School at the Campbell Learning Center since 2010.
I was the CISD Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2012 and EHS Teacher of the year in 2012 and 2021.
This year I have started my journey to become a National Board Certified Teacher. I am looking forward to the challenge to become an even better classroom teacher and recogonize my students for their unique qualities and learning styles. I believe that you should never be complacent in your life and always look for opportunities to do better.
I am pleased to offer tutorials after school upon request, but if you need help,  you can usually find me in my classroom by 7:45 every morning.
My conference period is scheduled from 11:59-12:55 every day.
