The Channelview Independent School District community participated in the annual Autism Speaks Walk held at the University of Houston on October 20, 2018. The team consisted of employees, parents, and community members. In addition, The Interact Club sponsored by Mr. Shoemaker and Mr. Fenner, the Math Club sponsored by Mr. Barajas, and the Channelettes sponsored by Mrs. Hutchins participated in the walk.
In total, Houston raised $315,000 to support autism research and resources for parents. “We are excited about our participation on this significant event,” said Special Services Director Gloria Roach. “Participation in the autism walk is one way we help to advance research and increase understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorders.”
