A new school year has brought new opportunities for the Channelview ISD Transportation Department. Under the direction of the new transportation director, Patricia Almaraz, new school buses are rolling in to add to the existing fleet, and new positions have been approved to aid in the overall efficiency of the department.
Ms. Almarez comes to Channelview from New Caney, where she was Area Coordinator - Transportation Supervisor. In her former position, Ms. Almarez helped to implement new technologies, managed the district's fleet, and supervised drivers. During her tenure in New Caney, Ms. Almaraz was credited for significantly decreasing the transportation department's turnover rate.
Ms. Almaraz has recently been listed as a 2019 Rising Superstar in School Transportation by School Transportation News. Her willingness to create an environment that places student safety at the forefront of daily operations has given a new look and feel to the department. "I am excited to serve as the new director of transportation! In the few months that I been in Channelview, I have had the opportunity to witness the hard work of talented individuals who go above and beyond for our students," said Almaraz. "My goal is to provide the necessary tools and resources that will allow the district to keep students safe while creating a nurturing environment for all students who enter and exit our buses.
