Channelview ISD Wins 2021 TAEA District of Distinction Award

Channelview ISD Wins 2021 TAEA District of Distinction Award

September 24, 2021-- Channelview ISD is once again the proud recipient of the The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) Award. The district is in the elite company of only 40 schools in the state receiving the honor.

This is the second year in a row the district is recognized. The districts received the honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and reach all different learners. TAEA has previously honored outstanding TAEA members for work in their classrooms and districts.

“I can’t brag enough about our Fine Arts Department,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Don Beck. “All of these educators are passionate about fine arts education and it’s no surprise they are recipients of such a prestigious award.”

For the 2021 award, over 1,100 districts were eligible to apply. Each district submitted documentation they met from the 14-point rubric over the 2021-2021 school year. Only 40 districts met  the high standard and will receive the outstanding honor indicating they are in the top 4 percent in art education of districts in the state.

“We truly have some of the most dedicated and talented educators around.”  said Channelview ISD Fine Arts Director Jennifer Tunink. “Our teachers put in countless hours of work so that our students have every opportunity to shine. It is an honor and a privilege to get to work alongside this amazing staff.”

Forty districts, including Channelview ISD will be honored at the TAEA Administration & Supervision Division meeting and during the TAEA Fall Conference General Assembly on Friday, November 5, 2021.
