WHO AM I?

Hi! My name is Curiosity Hunter, I've been teaching High School Math for 8 years now. I've taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Algebra EOC Prep and Algebraic Reasoning, Algebra is my JAM! I graduated from University of Houston Clear Lake Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelor's of Science in Mathematical Sciences with a minor in Mechanical Engineering. I am very passionate about learning and teaching, we can all learn something new everyday. I have been married for almost 15 years now and we have two sons. Our oldest son graduated in 2024 in the top 10% of his class and our little guy is in 3rd grade this year. My husband and I own Cross Collar Jiu Jitsu in Seabrook, so I teach HS Math by day, then go teach our littles how to be ninja's at night. As I said teaching is my whole world. I am dedicated to helping my students grow in all facets of their lives mentally, physically and spiritually. That about sums me up, if you want to know anything else, just ask, I'm an open book.

THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR:

This year is my first year at Channelview High School. I was working in Engineering for the last two years and going to school working on my Masters, before that I was at Robert E Lee High School in Baytown for six years. I really missed my calling, the kids, and the summers haha.

I'm teaching Algebraic Reasoning which is a class dedicated to helping students Pass their Algebra 1 STAAR Test on December 3rd. The first half of this course is an Algebra 1 Recap from last year, it's fast paced as we need to cover all of Algebra 1 in less than a semester. The second half of this course will delve into some Geometry and Algebra 2 concepts to prepare students for success in their future math classes. You could say Algebraic Reasoning is a bridge between Algebra 1 and higher level mathematics classes for anyone who failed their Algebra 1 STAAR test or who struggled in Algebra 1.

It is my hope this year that each and every student in my class not only passes the Algebra 1 STAAR Test, but also learns a thing or two about math. I try to make Math fun and interesting for my kiddos and to keep them on their toes in class to keep them better engaged.

CLASSROOM COMMUNICATION:

I post daily notes and daily practice key's for students to self check and ask questions the next class in Google Classroom. This is my main communication with students outside of class, parents feel free to join using the links below.
