Howdy! A little bit about me...
I grew up near San Antonio & New Braunfels and graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz, Texas. I then went on to College Station and graduated from Texas A&M with degrees in both Entomology and Agronomy. I did some time in graduate school pursuing a M.S. in Entomology with an emphasis in plant breeding, however, I didn't finish! I started working in biopharmaceuticals (using plants or bacteria to grow viruses in order to create vaccines) and learned a lot from that experience. I moved to Houston from College Station in 2014 and started teaching at Channelview. I have been with the Falcons since then! I have taught AP Chemistry, on-level chemistry, On-Ramps Chemistry, and Integrated Physics & Chemistry.
I am married to Coach Simicek (soccer, junior high football, SPED inclusion specialist), and we live in Baytown with Dos Gatos Locos, Rabbit and Ramathorn. I also serve as the Faculty Representative for the CHS Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO).
As a teacher, I understand I'm considered tough, and that's a fair assessment. I am tough because I really believe students can and will rise to the high standards I set for them. I may be tough and a little strict, but I'm fair, and I'm often told I'm very funny. I don't like "quiet" or rigid classrooms and I like lively discussions - especially about science. I enjoy all types of music, but especially heavy metal and enjoy attending concerts on the weekends. I enjoy gardening, reading, watching sports (go Stros!) and I love the Fast & the Furious movies.
