I'm Ricardo Castro, and I have the wonderful privilege of being your dual language science teacher here at our amazing Horizons Magnet School of fine arts. I believe that every child is a natural-born scientist, and I can't wait to explore the world with you this year.
While my heart is firmly in the elementary classroom—where I've been for the past 17 years—my path here was filled with other adventures. I spent 25 years as an IT professional and seven years as a college professor, working with the very technology that shapes our modern world. I love bringing that "real-world" experience to our class, helping students see that the science we study today is the foundation for the innovations of tomorrow.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe a classroom should be a launchpad for big dreams. My mission is to create a supportive and exciting learning space where students feel empowered to ask questions, solve problems creatively, and push the boundaries of their potential. Above all, I am committed to inspiring my students to become proud and engaged citizens who love their country and contribute positively to their community.
