Hi! I am Jeri Collins and this is my 36th year teaching band and my 29th year in Channelview. I love being a Band Director, especially at the beginning level, because of all the "Aha!" moments. My major instrument is Percussion but I have taught all band instruments. 

I taught in South Texas my first 7 years at a small school in Bishop, Texas. Our shining moment was when we auditioned for the Texas Bandmasters Honor Band and we finished 1st Runner-Up at the state level. What an amazing ride that was.

I have my Bachelors of Music from Texas A&I University which is now Texas A&M - Kingsville where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. It's a great school for many fields but especially if you're interested in teaching. I also have my Masters of Educational Administration from Lamar University. Besides having my Teacher Certificate, I also have my Principal Certificate.

I am a proud Navy Brat! My dad was in the Navy and we moved around a lot as I was growing up. I even lived in Japan for 2 years during middle school. It was amazing!

Outside of school I do scouts. All 4 of my children have been in scouting and my brother is an Eagle Scout. I also enjoy reading books of various genre - sci-fi and mystery are my favorites though. I listen to all types of music and love movies. My latest stress relief is redecorating my house and playing with my 2 dogs.
