Secondary ESL Program

The goal of our ESL program is to develop English language proficiency using second language methodology through explicit instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in all academic areas.

Our teachers serve ESL students by using sheltered instruction strategies to help students understand content and develop academic language in the areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, and English Language Arts. All courses for ESL students provide instruction based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and follow the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS).

The Secondary ESL staff is eager to provide assistance with:

  • CBLI Strategies

  • Differentiated instruction

  • Hands-on learning

  • Small group instruction

  • Conceptual-based learning

  • Cooperative learning

  • Active participation

  • Problem-solving
