The Channelview ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call a $195.4 million bond election, the Districtās first in 10 years, which was held on May 4, 2019. The bond proposal was developed and recommended by the Citizensā Bond Planning Committee (CBPC), a diverse group of CISD parents, staff, local citizens, and community leaders. The committee was tasked with studying and prioritizing the district needs over the course of 4 months to develop a long-range plan.
The Citizensā Bond Planning Committee:
STUDIED DISTRICT & FACILITY NEEDS Campuses and facilities were evaluated based on current conditions, standards and codes, enrollment projections, and Department presentations.
TOURED CAMPUSES Each meeting was held at a different campus and included a tour of the facility and an opportunity to hear from Campus Principals.
GATHERED & ANALYZED INFORMATION The committee reviewed a variety of information and resources including potential projects, bond scenarios, cost analyses, and tax impact.
REACHED CONSENSUS & MADE RECOMMENDATION After months of meeting, the Committee reached a consensus and made a recommendation to the Channelview ISD Board of Trustees to call a $195.4 million Bond Election for the proposed projects.
