Why Schools?

  • School is the major system that touches the lives of all children. It provides the Youth Service Specialist a place to identify and help youth with problems that affect their attendance, classroom behavior, academic achievement and home life.

  • CYS provides school based crisis intervention and brief case coordination services, providing assistance to families of children and adolescents who are experiencing problems.

  • Services are free and voluntary.

Who can be referred? Any youth and their family whose home and school success is affected by:

  • Family Conflict

  • Mental Health Issues

  • Substance Abuse

  • Runaway/Homeless Youth

  • Family Violence

  • School Related Issues

  • Pregnancy

  • Financial Problems

  • Truancy Issues 

CYS Workers are available to all students of Channelview ISD schools to provide:

  • Crisis Intervention

  • Information & Referrals

  • Supportive Counseling

  • Assistance with out of home placements

  • Home Visits
