Channelview ISD Launches First-Ever P-TECH Program: Gateway to Education Set to Begin Fall 2026

CHANNELVIEW, TX – Channelview Independent School District is proud to announce the launch of its Gateway to Education (GE) P-TECH program at Channelview High School, marking the district’s first Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) initiative. Scheduled to begin in August 2026, the GE P-TECH program is designed to prepare students for careers in education by offering a seamless, tuition-free pathway from high school to college and into the workforce.

In partnership with San Jacinto Community College (SJC), Channelview ISD’s GE P-TECH will provide current eighth-grade students (Class of 2030) with an innovative and rigorous opportunity to earn both a high school diploma and an Associate’s degree, while gaining valuable, hands-on classroom experience.

Hill. “By opening doors to the education profession early, we are cultivating the next generation of teachers who will lead, inspire, and transform the lives of Channelview ISD students for years to come. This program is not just about earning college credits; it’s about building a pathway to meaningful careers and creating opportunities that will change lives forever.”

Program Highlights:

  • Open to all current Channelview ISD 8th-grade students (Class of 2030)

  • Earn a high school diploma, an Associate’s degree, and/or college credits

  • Obtain industry-based certifications

  • Participate in work-based learning experiences (e.g., workplace tours, mock interviews, internships)

  • Membership in the Texas Association of Future Educators

  • Access to ongoing academic and career support

  • Priority job interviews for graduates entering the education profession

    Course Locations & Timeline:

  • 9th–10th grade: Courses held at Channelview High School

  • 11th–12th grade: Courses held at San Jacinto College – North Campus

  • Transportation provided to SJC – North Campus

    Application Process (Class of 2030):

  • Parent information session to be held in early 2026

  • Applications open in February 2026

  • Student lottery will take place in February 2026

The Gateway to Education P-TECH program is offered at no cost to families, and is designed to support students through every step of their educational and professional journey.
