Channelview ISD Principal Emily Laird Named Region 4 TEPSAN of the Year

Jan. 28, 2026— Channelview Independent School District is proud to announce that Emily Laird, principal of Barrett-Lee Early Childhood Center, has been named the 2026 Region 4 TEPSAN of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).

Each year, members from the 20 TEPSA regions across Texas select one colleague to recognize for exemplary service to the association and a demonstrated commitment to advancing the principalship and advocating for PK–8 students and educators. Honorees will be recognized during the Legacy Leaders Celebration on Monday, June 8, at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock.

Laird has served as principal of Barrett-Lee Early Childhood Center with a strong focus on early learning, family engagement, and student-centered leadership.

“Early Childhood Education for the youngest learners in Channelview ISD has always been my passion and where I have dedicated my 24-year career,” said Emily Laird, Principal of Barrett-Lee Early Childhood Center. “TEPSA is an invaluable association that has provided a strong network where I have been able to grow as a leader, and I am honored to receive this recognition.”

Channelview ISD Superintendent Tory C. Hill praised Laird’s leadership and impact on the district.

“Emily Laird exemplifies what it means to lead with heart, purpose, and excellence,” said Superintendent Tory C. Hill. “Her dedication to early childhood education and her commitment to students, staff, and families make her a true leader in our district and across the region.”

TEPSA, whose hallmark is educational leaders learning with and from each other, has served Texas PK–8 school leaders since 1917. Member-owned and member-governed, TEPSA represents more than 5,900 members who collectively serve over 3 million PK–8 students statewide.
