February 2, 2026 – Students from The Voice, Channelview ISD’s Superintendent Advisory Council, alongside Superintendent Dr. Tory C. Hill, played a key leadership role in shaping a new statewide vision for public education unveiled by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) at its 2026 Midwinter Conference on January 26.

Dr. Hill served as one of the Visioning Refresh co-chairs, helping guide the yearlong effort that led to the launch of The Texas Promise: A Vision for the Future. The new document will support school districts across Texas as they prepare students for a rapidly changing world.

“The Texas Promise reflects what educators, communities, and students across our state know to be true—strong public schools are built on trust, innovation, and local leadership,” said Dr. Tory Hill. “This vision honors our history while challenging us to think boldly about how we prepare students for the future.”

The visioning refresh engaged nearly 100 superintendents and school leaders from across the state and reflects a renewed focus on integrity, trust, innovation, and local decision-making in public education.

Student voice, led by Channelview ISD students through The Voice Superintendent Advisory Council, was a critical component of the process. Over the past summer, students from The Voice participated in a statewide visioning event, sharing firsthand perspectives on how schools can better support learning, engagement, and student success. Their insights—rooted in lived experiences—helped inform discussions with education leaders from across the state and offered valuable guidance on the design of future learning environments.

For Channelview ISD, The Texas Promise builds on work already deeply rooted in the district. Over the years, principals and directors have engaged in professional learning connected to TASA’s nearly two-decades-old original visioning document, which also helped guide the district’s strategic planning efforts. The updated vision affirms Channelview ISD’s direction and brings renewed clarity as the district continues to elevate student voice, strengthen local leadership, and prepare students for future success. The district looks forward to leveraging the refreshed vision as it moves forward with purpose and intention.
