Channelview ISD Educators and Board Member to Be Honored at HAABSE Awards Ceremony
Feb. 12— Channelview Independent School District is proud to announce that several outstanding educators and a dedicated board member will be recognized at the 39th Annual Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE) Outstanding Teacher Awards & Recognition Ceremony.
This year, multiple Channelview ISD teachers will receive well-deserved recognition for their commitment to student success. In addition, Board Member Ms. Shumona Collins will be honored as Board Member of the Year, highlighting her outstanding leadership and service to the district.
“Ms. Shumona Collins is a true champion for students, families, and educators in Channelview ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Tory C. Hill. “Her leadership, advocacy, and unwavering commitment have strengthened our district and expanded opportunities for our students. This recognition reflects her tireless dedication and the positive impact she continues to make in our community.”
The HAABSE Outstanding Teacher Awards & Recognition Ceremony provides an opportunity to highlight the vital role educators and school leaders play in shaping the future of students. Through this annual celebration, HAABSE recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to equity and excellence in education.
Ms. Collins and campus honorees will be honored during the event which will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The ceremony celebrates excellence in education and honors educators and leaders who have made a lasting impact on students and communities across the region.
