The Channelview Independent School District is proud to announce that Emeterio Cruz, Principal of Channelview High School, and Amber Logan, Principal of Hamblen Elementary School, have been named the district’s 2025–2026 Principals of the Year.
Mr. Cruz and Mrs. Logan were selected for this prestigious honor following a comprehensive review of campus performance, leadership practices, and sustained student success.
Emeterio Cruz – Channelview High School
Mr. Cruz brings an estimated 16 years of experience in education and a proven record of campus turnaround and achievement. He has been with Channelview ISD since 2023. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston-Downtown and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Houston.
Since joining Channelview ISD, Mr. Cruz has focused on strengthening instructional practices, increasing student achievement, and building a culture of collaboration and accountability. His commitment to visibility, teamwork, and continuous improvement has contributed to the ongoing academic progress at Channelview High School.
Amber Logan – Hamblen Elementary School
Mrs. Logan brings more than 20 years of educational experience, all within Channelview ISD, to her role as principal of Hamblen Elementary. She previously served as an assistant principal at both Hamblen Elementary and Harvey Brown Elementary School.
Mrs. Logan holds a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Lamar University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Montana State University–Billings. She also holds certifications in Principal Leadership, ESL Instruction, and Elementary Education. Under her leadership, Hamblen Elementary continues to foster a supportive, engaging, and high-achieving learning environment focused on both academic excellence and student well-being.
