Channelview, TX – May 2026 – Channelview ISD has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award from The NAMM Foundation, recognizing the district’s outstanding commitment to music education and its continued efforts to provide students with access to high-quality fine arts experiences. Now in its 27th year, the BCME program highlights school districts across the nation that demonstrate exceptional dedication to ensuring music education is an essential part of a well-rounded student experience.

This prestigious recognition places Channelview ISD among more than 1,000 school districts and schools nationwide—including public, private, charter, and parochial institutions—acknowledged for excellence in providing equitable access to music education programs.

“This recognition is a reflection of the incredible talent and dedication within our fine arts programs,” said Superintendent Dr. Tory C. Hill. “Channelview ISD has one of the strongest fine arts programs in the country, and we are proud of the educators, students, and families who make that success possible every day. This level of excellence is also a direct result of the leadership and vision of our Fine Arts Director, Ms. Tunink, whose commitment continues to elevate opportunities and experiences for all students.”

Recipients of the 2026 BCME Awards were selected through a rigorous application and review process evaluating funding, instructional time, participation rates, facilities, and community support. All applications were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.

This honor underscores Channelview ISD’s ongoing commitment to the arts as a vital component of student achievement, creativity, and overall educational excellence.
