CISD B Rated District

August 14, 2026 –Channelview ISD is celebrating continued progress after earning an overall “B” rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the 2025–2026 school year.

The district’s overall score increased from 80 in 2024–2025 to 81 in 2025–2026, continuing a positive trend.

TEA implemented significant changes to its accountability system beginning with the 2022–2023 ratings, raising expectations and making higher ratings more difficult to achieve. Despite these increased expectations, Channelview ISD continues to move forward.

“We are proud of the continued progress happening across Channelview ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Tory C. Hill. “Our scores are more than numbers. They represent the hard work of our students, teachers, staff and families.”

Two campuses earned an A from TEA:

  • Anthony Aguirre Junior High — earned a 91, a 10-point increase from last year.

  • Endeavor High School — earned a 96, a 4-point increase from last year.

Two campuses earned the title of Channelview ISD Growth Trailblazers for their exceptional improvement:

  • New Horizons Fine Arts Magnet Elementary — A 6-point increase in overall campus rating fueled by an 8-point increase in School Progress and gains across all accountability domains.

  • Channelview High School — Significant student achievement gains in Algebra I, English I, English II, and Biology, coupled with an exceptional 97% of graduates meeting College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR) criteria.

TEA awards Distinction Designations to schools that demonstrate exceptional achievement compared to similar campuses across the state. For 2025, Channelview ISD campuses earned the following:

  • Postsecondary Readiness: Aguirre Junior High, Harvey Brown Elementary, McGhee Elementary

  • Top 25% Comparative Academic Growth: Aguirre Junior High School

  • Top 25% Comparative Closing the Gaps: Aguirre Junior High School

  • Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts: Aguirre Junior High School

  • Academic Achievement in Math: Anthony Aguirre Junior High, Harvey Brown Elementary

  • Academic Achievement in Social Studies: Aguirre Junior High School

  • Academic Achievement in Science: Aguirre Junior High School

The district’s final College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR) rate is 97%, with Channelview High School at 97% and Endeavor High School at 92%.

Aguirre Junior High School met 100 percent of the distinctions, a rare accomplishment for any campus.

Channelview ISD will recognize these campuses at the upcoming board meeting on Tuesday, August 18, 2028.
