Why the Election

Planning Today for Tomorrow's Students

Channelview ISD is committed to helping students succeed today and in the future. Planning ahead helps the district prepare for changing needs, maintain safe schools and address challenges before they become larger and more costly.

Over the past year, staff, parents and community members worked together to review school facilities, finances, student programs and future priorities.

Their recommendations focus on supporting students, maintaining safe and secure schools, improving aging facilities and investing in the technology and resources needed for the years ahead.

Why Plan Ahead?

Public schools must continually plan for the future to ensure that students have safe learning environments, modern resources and access to educational opportunities.

Aging Facilities

Many school buildings and systems are getting older. Roofs, air conditioning systems and equipment wear out over time and eventually need to be repaired or replaced.

Safety & Security

Safety expectations continue to evolve. School districts must regularly invest in facilities, equipment and infrastructure that support secure learning environments for students and staff.

Student Needs

Educational programs, instructional technology, special education services and career preparation opportunities must continue adapting to meet the needs of current and future students.

Inflation & Rising Costs

The cost of construction materials, insurance, equipment, services and district operations has increased significantly in recent years, creating additional challenges for school districts across Texas.

Planning Ahead Saves Money

Planning ahead helps the district schedule repairs before they become emergency problems that often cost more.

What Is Long-Range Planning?

Long-range planning is a process used to evaluate future district needs and establish priorities over a three-to-ten-year horizon. The process considers multiple factors that affect the educational experience and daily operations of the district.

Areas reviewed during the planning process included:

  • Facilities

  • Finances

  • Programs

  • Staffing

  • Safety

  • Technology
